Kevin Brown
Kevin Brown, Tenor, is a senior Vocal Performance and Music Composition major at Miami University of Ohio. His compositions include works for solo voice and piano, solo piano, strings and piano, string quintets, mixed and men’s choir, brass choir, and other ensembles. The styles of his compositions range from neo-rennaisance pieces to minimalism and additive process. Kevin’s works have been performed and recorded by some of the finest musicians Miami University has to offer. As a performer, Kevin has appeared on stage a number of times. In Miami’s 2007 production of The Magic Flute, Kevin played one of the Armored Guards. In the Opera scenes program, Kevin has portrayed Spalanzani from Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Toby from The Medium, Don Jose from Carmen, Faust from Faust, and Don Carlo from Don Carlo. His concert repertoire includes numerous art songs, arias, and musical theater selections. Kevin studies voice with Professor Alison Acord and Composition with Dr. Glen Roger Davis.
When not composing or performing art music, Kevin is the lead vocalist, lyricist, and writes songs for Oxford Progressive Metal band Schallkrieg. Schallkrieg performs around the Cincinnati, Dayton, Oxford, and Columbus areas. Schallkrieg’s Debut Album, Mourning Cycle, releases on October 1st, 2009. Kevin is also an avid video gamer, Hockey enthusiast, and cook. Each summer, Kevin teams up with Cincinnati Film Production Team Fictitious Pictures LTD for the 48 Hour Film Project. Kevin serves as the team’s Composer In Residence, Music Director, Co-Producer, and as an actor.
